"Reading good books ruins you for enjoying bad books..." ~Juliet, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society
Our Book of the Month pick for January 2019 is . . .
What it's about:
This novel, written entirely in letters, follows the adventures of author Juliet. Juliet receives a letter from a stranger. As she corresponds with him, she becomes fascinated with the humorous, captivating society described in his letters. What Juliet discovers compells and changes her.
How I'm reading it:
1. The book
I'm reading this month's pick on my Kindle Paperwhite! My dad and I are reading the book out loud together, which takes longer but gives you time to savor the book.
2. The tea
Juliet is British, so tea is a must-have! This month, I'm sipping Twining's Earl Grey tea, a long-time favorite, out of this gorgeous teacup.
3. The recipe
Potato Peel Pie is essential. It's even in the book title, for goodness sake! Check out this creamy, cheesy recipe from The Hungry Bookworm.
4. The letter
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is told in letters, so of course we had to write one! Be inspired by Juliet's faithful writing and jot notes on this Card Catalog: 50 Notecards set. The front of each card looks like an old library catalog card, with a book title on the front and space
for a handwritten letter on the back! Correspond with anyone you can find in your address book, or better yet, find a pen pal.

@amanda.drury No, I haven't. I'm excited to see it once I finish the book though!
I love your style, Zoe. You're great with words, and even better at adding joy to life.
Have you seen the movie? Ignore so I’m curious how closely the stories align.
